First Week Reflections

So now I am a teacher. I get to school just as the sun is rising every morning. I teach Latin all day and then drag my happy and exhausted self home every afternoon. I also supervise 6th-8th grade girls while they change for P.E., take trash to the dumpster, and get daily hugs from my 3rd grade girls. The literature teacher next door is Italian and from New York and calls everyone "love" and "pumpkin pie." This morning our head of school brought her expresso machine and spent the morning making lattes for the teachers. Every day at 7:45 am the whole faculty is on their knees together for prayer. I won over the girls this week by wearing fun clothes. On Tuesday one of my 5th grade boys said, "Miss Spain, I think you're an awesome Latin teacher" as he was leaving after school. He's now my favorite. And I love my job.

Candace, that's great - I'm glad you're enjoying it there, and it's wonderful that your students like you - that's a very satisfying feeling! ;-)
