2005 in Flashbacks

As I prepare to bid farewell to 2005 I think it's appropriate to acknowledge the past year month-by-month and in sentence fragments. *Ahem*

January: First job interview. Last semester of college. "To study" equals "To sit on the couch at home with books and laptop beside me while watching movies, downloading music, and gossiping with roommate". Made (sarcastic) goal of being asked on real, live date before graduation.

February: Lady Bears basketball. Thats pretty much all I remember. Oh, and I hid a Chamberman's boots.

March: Easter in Waco. Visit from old high school friend, during which I discovered I am seriously a closet homemaker. It was weird. Accomplished January goal in non-sarcastic fasthion. Also weird.

April: For the Baylor-minded, my last ever Diadeloso. I got sunburned, soaked, and hung out with boys all night. An ordinary occurence for the average Baylor girl, a huge feat for Candace.

May: Kelly Clarkson concert. (Are we noticing a pattern of frivolity?) Graduated from Baylor. Bid Waco farewell.

June: Big move to Boerne. Enough said.

July: Lots of reading, knitting, and wondering what I had done with my life.

August: Officially employed by Geneva. Started teaching. Fell in love with my students.

September: Comfortably back in workaholic habits. Teaching, tutoring, a whole lot of coffee.

October: Stand-in mommy for 10 days with 4 kids. New secret fear: being a single, working mother.

November: Survived parent-teacher conferences. Mission: Find Miss Spain a Boyfriend commences.

December: 3rd friend's wedding since graduation. Mediterranean bound summer '06. Helped cater Max Lucado's Christmas party.

It's been good, bad, and ugly, but mostly productive, even if it wasn't academic productivity. As good as this year was, I'm a firm believer in new beginnings. So as the calendar begins anew, may it be the start of something great for us all.
